ATLAS OF HUMANITY | MILAN

It was an honor to be selected to represent Cuba in the Milan exhibit for Atlas of Humanity. And an even bigger honor to be featured in the Atlas of Humanity book.

Atlas of Humanity exhibited in Milan, Italy from October 7-30, 2022. The exhibition – curated by Martin Vegas – it’s now at its 8th edition and will be attended by 120 international photographers who showcase the richness and diversity of the world’s ethnic cultures that form the great mosaic of humanity. The portraits and the daily moments captured by these established authors or curious amateurs provide a glimpse into the vanishing cultures of people who are striving to hold onto their heritage in a rapidly-changing world.

Atlas of Humanity in Milan came after Paris, New York, Dubai, Tunis, Birmingham, and Cologne. How amazing to bring this international project to Milan, one of the most vital destinations for art lovers. Internationally famous for being one of the world’s capitals of design and fashion, in the last years, Milan has become a reference point also for the new trends in visual arts.

Next up… Atlas of Humanity New York, where Vanishing Cuba will be showcased with a special exhibit.

PLAIN MAGAZINE FEATURES VANISHING CUBA

After 24 trips to Cuba and over tens of thousands of photographs, American photographer Michael Chinnici is releasing his new coffee table book, Vanishing Cuba. Documented in the 348-page large-format book is a collection of arresting visuals that map out the past, present, and future of Cuba, along with emotional stories, fantastic scenery, and lifelong friendships the photographer has made along the way.

Captured in the most endearing and honest light, the book is accompanied by text in both English and Spanish, narrated by Cuban friends through meaningful essays. Through his lens, Chinnici digs deep into the soul of a country, and the results, as you can see from the images below, are breathtaking.
