Wow! After being featured in THE MET and the MoMA, we only needed Rizzoli New York for the Triple Crown. To see Vanishing Cuba, the creation of a first-time author (Michael Chinnici) and first-time publisher (Red Octopus Publishing) became a dream come true. After 24 photographic trips to Cuba, creating a stunning book became an obsession for Chinnici. We thank Rizzoli for seeing our passion and allowing us to grace your store’s bookcase.
The Rizzoli Bookstore is located at 1133 Broadway in New York City’s NoMad neighborhood. Just three blocks north of the bustling cultural heart of Madison Square Park, Rizzoli Bookstore looks forward to joining this vibrant environment which is host to high-end retailers like Eataly and Marimekko; restaurants including 11 Madison Park, The Breslin, and SD 26; and hotels like Ace, NoMad, and Ian Schrager hotel, Edition.
For over fifty years—twenty-nine in its previous 57th Street location—Rizzoli Bookstore has been widely considered one of the foremost independent booksellers in America, specializing in illustrated books on architecture, interior design, fashion, photography, cookery, and the fine and applied arts, as well as literature, and foreign language books. Rizzoli Bookstore has been and will continue to be a literary landmark in New York City and a celebrated destination for important authors and book lovers worldwide.
Established in New York in 1964, Rizzoli moved in 1985 to its 57th Street location—a six-story townhouse exhibiting on its façade a sober classicism that belies the elegant interior within, where cast iron chandeliers, ornately decorated vaulting, and a luminous Diocletian window create a serene setting for book lovers amidst the rush of Midtown Manhattan.
Their book collection specializes in illustrated subjects – fashion, interior design, art, architecture, photography, design – and literature in Italian, Spanish, French, and English. But all subjects of general interest are represented and carry a selection of European magazines and newspapers. Rizzoli also has a fine selection of compact discs and DVDs, and their selection of note cards and stationery is a constant delight to their customers.
